Garey High School kicked off its literacy campaign, Cafecito con Libros, this afternoon. Over 1,100 students signed up to participate in a month-long (Hispanic Heritage) reading program. Students were provided with a selection of book choices written by Authors, with Characters that resemble our community. For the next month, students will complete their Loteria Card by completing tasks that include: summarizing, identifying character traits, writing, etc. Students who complete the Loteria Card will be invited to join an outdoor assembly celebration and participate in a discussion with published authors.
