The Optimist Club of Pomona held their Annual Tea for the Soul Event, Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Pomona Ebell Club.
This year they honored 66 young ladies from the Pomona Unified School District. Each student submitted an application, essay and college acceptance letter. One student from each school was awarded a scholarship of $300.00. All contestants received a certificate from California State Senator, Susan Rubio, Assembly member Freddie Rodriguez, Los Angeles County Supervisor, Hilda Solis, and the Optimist Club.
Each girl was provided a decorated Tea Hat and pearls. Attendees were served by gentlemen from the Pomona Police Department, Los Angeles County Fire Department, PUSD Superintendent, PUSD Board of Education, PUSD Administrators, Pomona City Council members, Marines, Army and gentlemen from the community. Event also included prominent female mentors who joined the young ladies to discuss their journey both present and future.
