It is also taught abroad through the Department of Defense Dependents School System, which primarily serves the dependents of military personnel stationed overseas.

Established in September 1993, Garey High School is the fourth school in the Pomona Unified School District to adopt the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps program. Leadership training includes marching, map reading, first aid, textbook assignments, and placement in an actual leadership position.
