Prentice Named Assistant Athletics Director at KU

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Terry Prentice, currently Director of Development at the Razorback Foundation at the University of Arkansas, has been named Assistant Athletics Director for Major Gifts/Track Administration/Diversity Initiatives at the University of Kansas, KU Athletics Director Jeff Long announced today.
 
Prentice, who will serve as a member of the athletics director's senior staff, will work closely with senior-level development staff to develop and implement Kansas Athletics' annual fundraising efforts. He will also identify and solicit prospective and current major gift donors, and will work with the Kansas University Endowment Association regarding fundraising endeavors to maximize not only financial support with regard to athletic giving, but also communication between the University and Kansas Athletics.
 
Prentice will work closely with the Assistant AD, Human Resources, as chair of an employee committee created to identify and recruit qualified members of underrepresented demographic groups, with the goal of creating a more diverse and inclusive workforce.
 
He will also serve as the sport administrator for Men's and Women's Track & Field and Cross Country, providing administrative guidance, support to the head coach, overseeing the annual budgeting process, assessing program effectiveness, and ensuring that adequate support services are available.
 
Prentice, who has worked at the Razorback Foundation since 2014, also worked as a development assistant at the University of Mississippi Athletics Foundation.  He earned bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Arkansas.  Competing in the heptathlon and decathlon there, he earned All-Southeastern Conference and Honorable Mention All-America honors, and was named team captain in 2012.  USA Track & Field Magazine ranked him as a Top-10 American athlete in 2012-13; he was a USA Indoor/Outdoor Trials finalist.  A four-year member of Student Athlete Advisory Committee at Arkansas, he served as SAAC president in 2011-12 and was a member of the Athletics Director's Honor Roll.
